Fredericksburg, Texas

Fredericksburg is an amazing place for riding motorcycles!

Fredericksburg, Texas

Fredericksburg was a highlight for riding our motorcycles on iconic Texas roadways. Our goal was to ride the infamous Three Twisted Sisters (FM 335, 366, and 337). This 100 mile loop is among the best, most challenging motorcycle roads in the state. The route follows canyons and climbs jagged, steep hills with many tight, twisty curves and shear drop offs with limited guardrails. In one 15-mile section, there are approximately 65 curves.

If that was not enough, there are several other roads like Crab-Apple and Cherry Springs that will bring you even more joy. Our goal of riding at least 6 of our 9 days exploring the "Hill Country" by motorcycle certainly worked out!

Photography in downtown Fredericksburg makes for a nice morning.

Points of Interest:

1. The Enchanted Rock is an interesting 425-foot pink granite batholith. A short, easy hike!

2. Visit The National Museum of the Pacific War. A world-class cultural institution. This local favorite located in the heart of Fredericksburg and was the boyhood home of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz.

3. The Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park is a drive through history that tells the story of our 36th President in a unique and encompassing way.

4. Stop in for an amazing breakfast at the Old German Bakery and Restaurant before walking the town of Fredericksburg. We enjoyed this town, but there were more breweries, wineries, and museums than we had time to take part in!

Scenic Motorcycle Routes:

1. Do not miss riding the "Three Twisted Sisters" or the FM 335, 336, and 337 roads. Just too fun!

2. Better yet, take Crab-Apple to Cherry Springs to Doss. These back roads are smooth, rolling back roads where you will see more deer, longhorns, and goats than you will cars or people!

3. Luckenbach, Texas: Population 10. There is "Motorcycle Parking," three stages for bands to play, a bar, and it's own post-office. The staff were welcoming and there was live music playing throughout the day!
