Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico

Whites City, New Mexico (Carlsbad Caverns)

The travel from Fredericksburg, Texas to Camp Verde, Arizona was over 1000 miles. We planned two stops along the way, one of them being Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The Guadalupe Mountain National Park is also in the same area so be sure and include that in your trip. We experienced long stretches of straight roads, strong winds, and unfortunate detours so be prepared. As they say: "Texas Is BIG!"

So many photo opportunities in this National Park.

Points of Interest:

1. Carlsbad Caverns National Park - Allow for 3-4 hours to see the visitors center, watch the short film, and then take the 2.5 miles to the bottom of the caverns. We opted to take the elevator back up to the visitors center in order to get back on the road heading to Arizona.

2. Guadalupe Mountains National Park is a must-visit destination for hikers, with more than 80 miles of trails winding from woodland canyons to lush springs and is the highest point in Texas.

Scenic Motorcycle Routes:

This was a short stop for us so we did not unload the motorcycles or the e-bikes. We chose instead to stay over night at the Whites City RV Park. We found a spot in the tent camping area in order to leave early the next morning in order to get to the caverns. We did not have any trouble pulling the trailer through Carlsbad Cavern National Park and even found RV parking at the top.
