Between the Seasons on The Emerald Coast
Season III - Chapter 11
The U.P. and Heading Down
“The Emerald Coast and the Land of Ahhh’s” 😮
We call this time “between the seasons” for good reason, it is our time for reset and Panama City Beach was an ideal location to perform this function. With the City Pier and it’s beautiful beach just a short walk away, resting is easy, but the area has so many recreational opportunities we would not sit still for long.
Our Cola War - Pensacola to Apalachicola - kept us smiling behind the chin guards of our helmets. A winner has yet to be determined with one more ride to go. 😮
The day trips to the many springs in this area included a bear sighting 😮 (yes, a bear in Florida) and an education in Cypress trees and knees. A master gardener in the area explained the unique root system of these swamp dwellers whose jutting limbs resemble knees... and they do! 😮
The other treasure that we uncovered in the Dead Lakes Region was sweet... “Sweet as Tupelo Honey” to quote Van Morrison. The nectar produced by the bees in this area is world renowned. 😮
In between rides and hikes we have enjoyed more sunsets that we can remember, and we were not alone. The locals gather every evening and watch reverently as the sun gives way to the sea. 😮
The peacefulness that we have enjoyed in the winter is about to give way to the crowds that will begin showing up in in just a few short weeks. The quiet beaches will “Bustle with Breakers” and stay that way until mid November. 😮
We are loaded and ready to explore the Gulf Shores until we reach our turning point, just in time for Mardi Gras. This time between our seasons has offered moments that can only be summed up as:
“The Emerald Coast and the Land of Ahhh’s” 😮
Travel safe and we will see you out on the road!
