Camera Gear and Electronics

John and I have always enjoyed photography. When our kids were young I took most of the travel, sports, and fun photos and never wanted to miss a moment of that time with our kids. To this day I have WAY too many photos on my phone, in Lightroom, and in boxes in our storage unit. I look forward to having a photography room again someday, but we are not ready to stop traveling yet. Until then we will continue to seek opportunities for photos and video of motorcycling, hiking, and the occasional night photography.

Starting a YouTube Channel was new to us as of February 2023. We thought we would just share the motorcycle “shorts” that I made for Instagram and within a short period we were making real videos and sharing our story. It was then that we purchased a GoPro 9 in order to start our “talking videos” as John called them. And here we are, just over one year later, and we have 600 subscribers! We are honored by the people that tune in and watch.

As you may know, making videos and sharing on YouTube requires dedication and time. Because of that, we have followed others footsteps and became “Amazon Associates” in order to help offset some of the costs in making these videos.

We are providing the Amazon links to the camera and video equipment that we do use and may earn from qualifying purchases.

Thanks for reading and thank you in advance for your support. It helps us and it helps our channel!

The Insta 360 Video Camera

  • This is our most recent upgrade!

  • Such a fantastic camera. Playful, interesting, and it works well with the App and on the laptop.

  • There is a definite learning curve when it comes to editing, but both John and I are learning to make “Clips” to use in our YouTube videos.

  • Be sure to get the motorcycle stick for a better experience while riding. 🏍️

  • Also, check out our YouTube video below that reviews our use on the new BMW G 310 GS motorcycles! See the video at the end of this blog. 😎

Sony Mirrorless Camera!

  • Since we are new to sharing products on Amazon this is a tough one. There are so many places to purchase a camera. AND, it can be a very personnal choice in what you need and want.

  • I have rented cameras and rented or borrowed lenses in order to find what I really want. I have also purchased from several different locations in trying to get the right product at the right price.

  • This is just one option.

  • That being said, I LOVE my Sony a7 II and have learned to use the full-frame mirrorless camera.

  • Good luck on finding the best fit for you.

TOP PICK:

  • Okay… I did say picking a camera was very personal. However, I rented this Sony G Series camera lens in Salt Lake City, Utah while traveling in the area. For $35.00 they let me rent the lens for the weekend and I never looked back. After just 2 days of use, I HAD TO HAVE IT! 😳

  • This lens rarely comes off my Sony a7 II as it is just an all around great lens.

  • Buying good glass is expensive. Be sure and shop around or rent one like I did.

GoPro Hero 9

  • There are so many options in purchasing a GoPro. We happened to have purchased this one at Sam’s Club in Florida, but they can be found at so many locations.

  • The GoPro itself can have some technical difficulties: the battery and unit can get over-heated, battery life is variable, and sometimes we are not able to connect with the iPhone App.

  • That being said: It does a great job recording our YouTube content for hiking, motorcycling, and just talking. Try it for yourself and see what works.

GoPro Carrying Case:

  • We have used this carrying case since 2015 and it has protected our first GoPro Hero 3 and now our GoPro Hero 9 and still looks brand new.

Speak up Caroline! 😂

  • When we hit 500 Subscribers we said we would purchase a microphone.

  • Yes… Caroline’s voice is simply not as loud as John’s so this addition has really helped.

  • This Media Mod goes over the entire GoPro Hero 9 body. Unfortunately, it has to be removed in order to get to the battery AND memory card.

  • That said, it does work well and we can hear Caroline during the video. 👍😅

Get it Mounted!

  • This Motorcycle Mount has everything (almost) for mounting your GoPro and Insta 360 X3 onto the handlebars of your motorcycle, bike, or for hand carrying.

  • There are many more options to add for both the Insta 360 and GoPro like lens covers, screen protectors, and helmet mounts.

  • Let us know if you have questions. We will share more items as we are able.

Caroline’s Favorite Helmet Cam:

  • This small camera has been so easy and safe to use while motorcycling. Caroline has used the Prism Tube since 2015 and still uses one today.

  • The easy “Camera On” with the mic in the helmet along with the helmet mount makes for an easy addition to your adventure media!

Add to your content using a Drone.

  • John is our Drone Pilot and does such a great job! It has taken some wonderful images of those special areas that we have traveled to.

  • Currently, John has a DJI Spark from 2016, and we are finally looking to upgrade this year. That shows you just how sturdy and capable these little guys are.

  • There is “follow me modes” and so much more. Available at many locations but this is the link to the one on Amazon:

Peak Design Tripod:

  • Having a tripod comes in handy for so many photo sessions and video recording.

  • This is an expensive Tripod. (Approx. $379.00) It is also available in Carbon Fiber that is just a tad lighter. We think they are worth the price and best of all… it will always fit back into the carrying case provided. 👍😃

  • We own two of these and use them often. We find them to be easy to use, stable, and it includes an attachment for your phone.

  • Be sure and purchase the adapters in order to quickly attach you camera, GoPro, or Insta 360! See below.

Peak Design Camera Clip and Plate:

  • We purchased the extra camera clip and plate for hiking. It easily attaches to a backpack or belt.

  • Also, having that extra plate allows you to keep one on your camera and one on your GoPro.

  • It makes attaching to your tripod so quick and easy!

Canon PIXMA TR150 Wireless Portable Printer

  • After we sold the house and moved in to our RV, I found the need for a portable printer. I no longer had my home computer or oversized printer.

  • After shopping around I found this printer for just under $200.00. Honestly, I was initially reluctant due to cost, weight, and having “too much stuff” in the RV. I am so glad we got this printer.

  • It has now worked flawlessly for over three years and I have only needed to replace the ink three times during that period.

  • 👍👍 Two thumbs up!

Hard sided Travel Case for Pixma Canon Printer:

  • There is something to be said about having electronics in a safe and easy to use carrying case. We recently added this to our cart and will be using from here on out.

Refill the ink.

  • We have purchased this item from Amazon and Staples. 😃

  • This item is not available as an Associate Link.

Amazboost Cell Booster

Let us know if you have any questions.

We are not the experts when it comes to filming, editing, or YouTube, but we continue to learn and grow, challenging ourselves to make as John says: “Sick Content!”

Travel safe all! And we will see you out on the road!
