1 Major Detour in Westport, New York after an EMP event!

When you get “struck by lightning and live in an RV, you can feel quite vulnerable. Without a home to go to and unsure of where to go with our RV that was now in need of major repairs, we did what most RV people would do. Head to Elkhart, Indiana! Home of the RV producers and all components. Thankfully, Lippert took us under their wing and got us back on the road within the week.

*Just one more issue… as we crossed over the Mackinac Bridge we noticed a broken bolt on the RV leaf spring! We found a local business called George’s Truck Repair and they were fantastic. They had us back on the road the next day.

This KOA is family friendly and fun on steroids! What a place. Tucked into the trees with pools and outdoor activities galore. Very fun.

*We had one more repair issue: The propane gas valve for the refrigerator had gone out during our travels. We finally located one in Brainerd, Minnisota and drove the truck the 60 miles to an RV store. Without the propane valve we could not run the fridge without electricity so boon docking in Wall, South Dakota would have to be cancelled. 😅

This was a good option as a stop to visit Sioux Falls to see old friends. The resort itself has a wonderful pool area, golf, and multiple resort options.

“The Edge” - Wall and The Badlands South Dakota

7 Miles outside of Wall, South Dakota

If you ever want to try your RV at dispersed camping this is a favorite stop for so many. Sitting on “The Edge” of the Badlands is one amazing experience.
