RV Loading List

This is a list of items we use in loading our fifth wheel prior to travel. We actually have it printed and in plastic sheets to use every day we travel. This may be a great start for you and we hope it helps you in your travels. πŸ€


 Day Prior to Travel:

Truck:

Top off Diesel and DEF

 Clean windows

 Clean cameras

 Inspect hitch bolts

 Inspect tires and tire pressure

 Plan Route and fuel stops

 Charge Walkie Talkies


RV:

Sweep slides

 Inspect roof

 Secure roof ladder

 Run generator

 Check tire pressures

 Dump and flush black – 3-5 gallons of water

 Add 1/3 fresh water

 Add chemicals


Indoor:

Garage TV Secured

 Cabinet above Main TV secured

 Clean ALL floors including under slide linoleum flap

 Clean all bathrooms


 Garage:

We load our garage the day prior

 Glass doors down

 Windows closed

 Shades down

 ALL Fans off

 All covers in bags to bathroom Tire, Bikes, M/C, Table, BBQ covers

 Foam support under toilet foot lever to prevent water flow for travel

 Bathroom sink cleared

We store our M/C Gear in the bathroom for travel days

 Table to under bed

 Ladder to under bed

 Carpet rolled up

 Bolt-It-On Secured and bikes loaded

 Final secure check for all supplies


 Day of Travel:

Bedroom:

Grey Boxes: Store all items from bedroom shelves and place on bed

(Grey 11 x 16 soft sided folding boxes from Walmart work great)

 Secure under bed storage items

Garage table to under bed

Bedroom TV Secure

Windows closed and shades up

White ladder to bed

Bedroom SLIDE IN

Shut door


 Hallway (fifth wheels)

Window closed - Shade Down


Main Bathroom:

Shower items secured

Towels off hooks

Shower door lock in down position

 Place Orange noodle shower door slide

(We use the added noodle for securing our shower door:)

Counter cleared

Doors and cabinets closed

Toilet seat down

Bathroom door latched


Kitchen:

Photos down as needed

Glassware secure

Canned goods secure

ALL Drawers and doors closed

Pantry secure and closed

TV Secure – we pad under the TV for travel

Glass shelf latch below the TV secured

Upper birth stable and secure

Stools to couch

Countertop down

Vents off and down

Fridge items secured - Confirm doors closed - secure if needed

Fridge to gas

Lower oven drawer padded – We use a foam noodle under bottom drawer


SLIDES IN

Always double check floor for loose items before starting


Main Control:

All systems off

Lights off

Fridge off for travel (Or propane / solar as needed)

Water pump off

Water heater off

Heat or Air Conditioning off

Awnings in


Day of Outside:

Nautilus in Dry Camp Mode

Final flush and store hoses

Electric cord stored

Dump garbage


RV and Hitching:

Forward bay closed and locked

ALL Steps up

Select Hitch Height

Prepare hitch

Ball latch retracted

Wires up on fifth wheel for loading

Silcone to Jacks

Leave tire chocks until loading complete

Remove X-chocks

Truck Tailgate down

Back truck in to position

Lower RV to Anderson Hitch

LOCK Ball

Final secure of safety wires, connections, chains, electric plug-in

Load final boxes to back of truck

β€œRetract All β€œ jacks – Confirm ALL legs retracted

Store wheel chocks

Check Connections for brake and tail lights

Set Truck to Tow/ Haul Mode

Set Brake Gain (4)


Final Walk Around: 

Double check One Control that lights and air is off

All doors closed and locked

Check Propane doors secured


ARRIVAL CHECKLIST:

RV:

Place tire chocks and Anderson blocks

Unlock and raise fifth wheel off Anderson Hitch

Secure all wires, chains, unplug from truck

Move truck forward to clear from 5th wheel

Confirm steps are in the up position

Select Auto Level

Install X-Chocks

Confirm all areas clear for slides

Attach water, electric, sewer

Bedroom slide out

Turn Fridge on

Water heater on

Heat / Air on as needed

Main living slides out

Return living area to baseline
